Fun Things		Although each school district in Texas is bound by codes and requirements of the Texas Education Agency, districts vary with regard to teacher-student ratios (state law restricts class sizes for grades four and under to 22 students) and available special services, programs and elective courses. Schools in the Clear Creek ISD focus on building strong basic skills while providing ample opportunity to develop individual interests and abilities in almost any field. Most schools organize on three levels: Pre-K through 5th grade; 6th grade through 8th; and 9th through 12th. Instruction at all levels is largely regulated by the state. The Clear Creek Independent School District was formed in 1948 through consolidation of schools in League City, Seabrook, Webster and Kemah. At the time the schools were unified, there were no more than 1,000 students in four schools. For the 1998-99 school year, district enrollment pew to approximately 28,500 students in 29 schools. Construction continues on more facilities to meet the needs of the 105-square mile school district, which also includes parts of Friends-wood and Houston. Clear Creek ISD is now the 31st largest of the state's 1,056 districts. Approximately 36 percent of the faculty members have at least a master's degree. The 1997 exit-level TAAS scores administered to 10th-grade students showed that 98 percent of students met minimum requirements in writing, 96 percent in reading and 92 percent in math.
